Yes, he was edged out by Kelly Shryock for the IMCA National title, but with his success in some non-sanctioned events factored in as well, John Oliver Jr. has completed the clean sweep winning the All Iowa Points, the Best of the Midwest Points and the Back Stretch National Championship in the Stock Car division. The final one is the composite standings for all IMCA/USRA-type Stock Car events held across the United States in 2025 using the standard 5-point scale for all events, specials or weekly shows.
Iowa drivers sweep the top five with Mike Albertson using his success in Arizona as well as at a season ending event in Texas to take the second spot. Shryock ranks third here followed by Dustin Griffiths and Myles Michehl. Wisconsin's Cole Czarneski is the best of the rest and his next adventure will be racing a Late Model in Australia.
As I have noted earlier, this will be the second and final "National Points" for the Back Stretch as trying to do every dirt track in the country is a bit too much for this old man! We will just stick with the fourteen states that make up our Best of the Midwest standings as we head into 2026.
With that we wrap up 2025 and we wish you all a very Happy and healthy New Year! Our next entries here on the Back Stretch will be the updated Cumulative Missouri Points rolling out in the final two weeks of January.
