Final Midwest Pavement Late Model Points for 2018

I am a dirt track fan through and through, but I do enjoy a short track Late Model race on the pavement from time to time with the goal of making at least one show a year in my travels. It looked like Oktoberfest at LaCrosse would be my pavement race for 2018, but when I had something come up that kept me at home that weekend I was eventually able to make it back to the Rockford Speedway for the Bahama Brackets.

My favorite pavement track in the Midwest is the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri, although both the Jefferson Speedway and Slinger Speedway in Wisconsin are on my "bucket list" to check out sometime soon. And that is the reason why I track the results of the Super Late Models and Late Models in the Midwest using the same 5-point scale that I use with the All Iowa Points, because when you visit a track that you have never been to before, or that you seldom go to, it is much more fun to know a little bit about some of the competitors.

With last year's champion Ty Majeski working on advancing his career down south that left the door open for Casey Johnson to climb to the top of the Super Late Model standings in 2018. Johnson picked up four wins in twenty-four top five finishes to finish comfortably ahead of Dennis Prunty who had five wins and sixteen top fives.

In the Pro or Limited, or just plain old Late Model division it was Minnesota's Jacob Goede leading the way once again aided by the fact that his home track the Elko Speedway runs two feature races each week. Goede was in the top five thirty-two times in 2018 with ten of them being feature wins. The ageless veteran Steve Carlson came back with another solid season with nine feature wins at the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway to rank second on this list.
