With Swea City located just a few miles south of the Minnesota border, Matthew Looft races in both states on a weekly basis and while some of his Minnesota tracks do count toward the All Iowa Points others such as Arlington and Slayton do not so when the individual state points are tallied Looft can come up just a bit short to competitors who race exclusively in one state or the other. Looft has won the Minnesota Points championship for Limited Modifieds twice, in 2017 and 2019, but for the second year in a row he has finished second to Jake Smith. He finished tenth in this year's All Iowa Points, so with those standings and the fact that Matthew captured his fifth IMCA Northern Sport Mod National title in 2022, it should come as no surprise that Looft is the Best of the Midwest in the Limited Modified class for the second year in a row. Another driver that did not win a state title, Shadren Turner sits in the second spot as the northwest Missouri based driver finished second in Kansas and fifth in Missouri. Now a two-time All Iowa Points champion, Logan Anderson joins the podium in third.

The Modified division is up next and again our Best of the Midwest driver did not win a state title, but Tyler Peterson of Hickson, North Dakota did stake claim to the 2022 WISSOTA National championship. Peterson scored points in five different states this season ranking second in the final Minnesota standings and fifth in South Dakota. This is his first Best of the Midwest honor after ranking third last season. Now a three-time Minnesota state champion, Shane Sabraski lands in second in this summary for the second year in a row while IMCA National Champion and now a six-time Nebraska Points champion Jordan Grabouski comes home third.

This is just the third year that we have been tracking the Stock Cars in states outside of Iowa and while we award a third different driver with the Best of the Midwest moniker in the division, he is the first that does not hail from Iowa. Texas hot shoe Blake Clark takes this championship by winning the Texas Points and finishing second in the Oklahoma Points standings. Perennial IMCA National Champion and the top Stock Car driver in these standings in 2020, Mike Nichols is the runner-up while Jordan Grabouski caps off an amazing double-duty season by landing in third in this class as well.

In the Late Models young superstar Bobby Pierce earns this title for the second time, the first coming in 2016 when we first started compiling this list. Racing a true "outlaw" schedule, Pierce scored points in eight of the fifteen states that we follow and perhaps even more impressive is that his points would have all been earned in higher paying special events rather than weekly shows. Keep in mind that our scale pays the same number of points for a $10,000-to-win special and a $600-to-win weekly show. Pierce's best individual state showing was third in Illinois where he is a two-time state champion. He is followed up by two drivers who have topped this list before, six-time South Dakota state champion Chad Becker and Cory Dumpert who is now a five-time Nebraska Points champion to go along with a Kansas Points title in 2018. Dumpert is also a repeat IMCA National Late Model champion in 2022.

In the Winged Sprint Car class we combine the three primary divisions into one list and our 2022 Best of the Midwest honor goes to Racesaver/305 driver Trevor Serbus from Olivia, Minnesota. The seventh different driver to win this title in seven years, Serbus was the Minnesota Points Sprint Car champion for the fourth time in 2022. Aaron Reutzel who raced in both the 410 and 360 divisions weekly at Knoxville finishes second on this list while ASCS National Series champion Blake Hahn takes third after scoring points in eight different states.
