The 2023 champion with the World of Outlaws, the Castrol FloRacing Night in America and the XR Super Series, Bobby Pierce had a phenomenal season. And in the fourteen states listed below where we tabulate all feature results using the same 5-point scale, no matter if it is a special event or a weekly show, "The Smooth Operator" has also earned his second straight and third overall "Best of the Midwest" honor in the Late Model division.
From the Bobby Pierce Facebook page |
Pierce was the first driver to be honored when we started doing this in 2016 and he is the first driver in any of the five common divisions that we track to top the list three times. Tyler Peterson, who was the "Best of the Midwest" in the Modifieds in 2022, had a fantastic rookie season in the Late Models placing second on this list. This year's Illinois Points Super Late Model champion ranks third, Cory Dumpert who earned his fifth straight and sixth overall Nebraska Points championship lands in fourth while two-time Late Model "Best of the Midwest" driver Chad Becker (2017, 2019) is fifth. Dumpert also topped this list in 2020.
