With the Charlie Clark Memorial in the books this past weekend at the Park Jefferson Speedway, the 2025 racing season in South Dakota is now complete and for the tenth time we will now roll out our Back Stretch style state point standings where all events are scored with a standard five-point scale.
Only one new name is added to the list of champions this year and we will start with him as Todd Stark scored his first South Dakota Points title in the Limited Modified class after winning six times in twenty-seven top five finishes. Stark finished in a tie for tenth in these standings last season. Dawson Zabel, who was third in 2024, advanced one spot this year after taking five wins in twenty-two top fives while two-time champion Willy Kirk places third this go around after scoring five victories in thirteen top five runs.
Late Model driver Chad Becker continued his reign of the division walking off with his ninth straight South Dakota Points championship as only Kent Arment has been able to beat him in the first year that we started to track this state in 2016. Becker was a twelve-time feature winner in eighteen top fives on tracks in South Dakota ad with his success in neighboring states as well he may just be able to make another run at our Best of the Midwest title after winning that in 2019. Mike Stearns made a big jump in his Late Model this year winning five times in twenty top-five outings to rank second and more on him in a moment. Josh Skorczewski who was the runner-up to Becker in 2024, slips to third this year taking four checkered flags in twelve top five finishes.
Not only did Mike Stearns go from a distant twenty-fifth in 2024 to second in his Late Models this season, he also maintained his high level of success in his Modified earning his second straight, and fourth overall South Dakota Points championship in the division. The two division hot she picked up nine wins in twenty-two top fives to easily outdistance Eric Mass who was dominant at the Black Hills Speedway winning ten times in eleven top fives. Adam Brotherton takes the podium in third porting three feature wins in nineteen top fives.
Another driver that has been impossible to top in these standings is Lee Goos Jr. who racked up five wins in twelve top fives on tracks in the state for his fifth straight South Dakota Points Sprint Car championship. We will be featuring Lee again soon as he has also earned his fourth straight All Iowa Points 305 Sprint Car division title in 2025. Adam Speckman is his runner-up here after winning four times in twelve top fives while budding superstar Ryan Timms ranks third with six wins in ten top fives in South Dakota.
Finally, there was just one track in the state that ran the IMCA/USRA type Stock Cars in 2025 so our South Dakota Points list might look like the final points as the Park Jefferson Speedway as well with Travis Barker taking his fourth title in six seasons of tracking the division. Barker had five wins in ten top fives to outrun the 2022 champion Todd Gereau, one win in eight top fives, and former Modified star Greg Peck who had one win in ten top fives.
