Final Nebraska Points for 2018

With the Cornhusker Classic at I-80 Speedway in the books the 2018 racing season has concluded in the state of Nebraska and following are the state point standings for Late Models, Modifieds, Limited Modifieds and Winged Sprints. These points are tallied using the same 5-point scale that is used for the All Iowa Points.

After finishing as the runner-up to Josh Leonard last year, Tad Pospisil moves to the top of the Late Model standings edging out Zach Zentner by just one point. A couple of wins by Pospisil late in the year driving for other car owners in the Grand National division made the difference as the Norfolk driver won ten times in seventeen top five finishes while Zentner was in the top five twenty-three times and had six feature wins. Jim Johnson ranked third for the second year in a row.

To say that two drivers dominated the Modified action in the state of Nebraska this season is an understatement as it seemed like every race night was one by Jordan Grabouski or Anthony Roth. Grabouski is the Nebraska champion for the third year in a row stacking up thirty-one feature wins as part of forty-three top five finishes. Roth had a pretty stout year of his own scoring nineteen victories and thirty-seven top fives. Both drivers will be near the top of the list when we present the "Best of the Midwest" standings in early December. Shane Hiatt was a distant third.

Last year Austin Svoboda won the state title in the Limited Modifieds in the final race of the season. This year though he comes up four points shy of repeating as Lance Borgman takes the title with fifteen wins and twenty-seven top fives to his credit. Svoboda ends the season with six checkered flags and thirty-five top fives while Shawn Harker lands in the third position for the second year in a row.

In the Winged Sprint Car standings that combines the 410's, 360's and 305's there is a tie at the top between Jason Martin and Tyler Drueke each with 38 points. Both drivers had two wins and twelve top five finishes to their credit and they finished first and second last year with Martin the champion. Adam Gullion was only two points back in third.
