In this COVID altered 2020 racing season Iowa and Nebraska were the place to be for drivers to earn the most points in our standard 5-point scale system as when accumulated for all fifteen states that we tracked in 2020 the five "Best of the Midwest" were the champions from those two.
The overall top point earner in a single division for 2020 is Harlan, Iowa's Mike Nichols. In 2019 the multi-time IMCA Stock Car National Champion earned his first ever All Iowa Points title and this year Nichols captured the Nebraska State title and finished ninth in the All Iowa Points for Stock Cars. He also won feature races in both Missouri and Kansas rolling a four state point total of 215 in this our first year of tracking the division in states other than Iowa. The 2020 All Iowa Points champion Dallon Murty and his father Damon join Nichols to make it an All Iowa podium.

Brayton Carter was the only driver in 2020 to eclipse the 200 point mark in a single state as the All Iowa Points Limited Modified champion is also The Best In The Midwest for the division in 2020. Last year's overall champion Cody Thompson is this year's runner-up in the class earning points in five different states, his best showing coming in the All Iowa standings where he was the runner up to Carter. Texan Dean Abbey who finished second in the Oklahoma Points and third in the Texas standings rolls those two totals together to rank third in the overall standings.

Originally from Oregon, Tom Berry Jr. based himself out of North Dakota in 2019 and won the Modified state title there. Then in 2020 Berry based himself out of Des Moines, Iowa where he then cruised to his first All Iowa Points championship. Add in points that he earned in four other states and Berry is The Best In The Midwest for the Modifieds in 2020. The driver that chase him in the Iowa points chase throughout the season, Freeport, Illinois' Jeff Larson is also the runner-up on this list while the 2020 All Missouri champion Steven Bowers Jr. takes third.

The Nebraska Points champion Cory Dumpert takes the Best In The Midwest title in the Late Model division. Dumpert was the runner up on this list in 2019 just eight points behind Chad Becker. The top two in the All Iowa Points standings for 2020, Matt Ryan and Justin Kay are next on the Late Model list.
Kyle Larson 2020 dirt racing season was legendary and with sixteen of his forty-six victories coming in eight of the states where we track the points for the Winged Sprint cars it should come as no surprise that the best driver in the world this season is also The Best In The Midwest. It was however by just one point over Brad Sweet while six-time All Iowa Points champion Jack Dover finished third.
