Becerra raced out to an early lead in the standings and held off Travis Denning over the final two months to secure the title winning nineteen times in his forty-three events where he finished in the top five. Perhaps most impressive though was a Sunday night in Quincy where he suffered mechanical issues with his own car, borrowed the Sport Mod of Adam Birck just to get feature points, started at the back and won the night's UMP Modified main event!

With the two drivers both racing hard for IMCA National Points in September, Becerra and Denning found themselves racing against each other over the final weeks of the season with Denning posting his best finish ever in the All Iowa Points winning fifteen times in thirty-six top fives. Three-time champion Kelly Shryock takes third earning points in thirty-eight events with ten of them ending in victory lane. Nebraska native Jacob Hobscheidt takes the fourth spot and three-time champion Chris Abelson returned to form in 2022 with a fifth place showing.
The Newcomer of the Year, or the top driver who scored points in the Modified division for the first time in 2022, is budding star Jim Chisholm from Osage. The young driver made the move from USRA B-Mods to the Modifieds winning six times in the second half of the season including a USMTS event over the national stars of the division. He finished 20th in the All Iowa Points.
