With Smith then parking his ride for the rest of the season after Boone, it was up to Lamar to overtake him and following a second place finish at East Moline in late September and a feature win at the Iowa Dirt Nationals in Dubuque, Lamar found himself just three points behind Smith with three more Hobby Stock points paying events still on the schedule.

Lamar did not make the trip to Memphis, Missouri, for the Friday night portion of the track's October doubleheader, but he was there on Saturday and ran second to Aaron Martin to take a one point lead. Then, when the Turkey Dash at Columbus Junction was rained out this past weekend, that would set the final standings in stone with Lamar taking the hard earned title by just one point! That clinching race in Memphis was his thirty-seventh top five finish of the season with seventeen of those ending in victory lane.
Smith, who was looking to join his uncles Donavon, Devin and Dustin as an All Iowa Points Champion will have to try it again next year as he picked up twenty feature wins in his thirty-six top five finishes. The 2020 champion Dustin Gulbrandson finishes third in 2022 taking fourteen feature wins in his thirty-four top five showings on points paying tracks. Luke Ramsey ranks fourth for the second year in a row and Dylan Clinton completes the top five improving from 14th in 2021.
Warren County Speedway and Brooklyn Raceway competitor Mark Schuring is the Newcomer of the Year for the Hobby Stocks taking two trophies and landing in 61st on the list below.
