The 2023 racing season in the state of North Dakota wrapped up on October 6th when the Saturday portion of the Jamestown Stampede fell to rain and it will be the first of our fourteen states that stretch from Texas to the Canadian border that we tabulate points in using the standard 5-point scale to not only crown state champions, but also the Best of the Midwest in the five common divisions that we follow.

With his win on that final night of racing in North Dakota, Tyler Peterson earned a share of the Late Model championship in this his first year in the division. Peterson who also ran his Modified on a regular basis in 2023 was the "Best of the Midwest" in that division last year despite never having won a state title since his schedule takes him to three different states on a regular basis. His Late Model win at Jamestown on October 6th was his fourth of the season among his five top five finishes in the state. Also being named the Late Model champion in 2023, since we do not use any tiebreakers, Brad Seng takes his second straight North Dakota Points title with just one win in sixteen top fives. Five-time champion Dustin Strand ends up just one point back in third taking five feature wins in ten top five finishes.

For the fourth year in a row Williston's Travis Hagen is the top Modified driver in North Dakota and he did it with an emphasis this year scoring more than double the points of his closest competitor. Hagen tallied sixteen feature wins amongst his twenty-three top five finishes in 2023. After finishing fifth on the list in 2022, Marlyn Seidler takes the runner-up position this season with five victories in twelve top fives while last year's runner-up Jeremy Keller slips to third in 2023 winning four times in twelve points earning events.

Jory Berg makes it two in a row taking the North Dakota Points title in the Limited Modified division winning four times in his state leading twenty-seven top five finishes this year. There is a tie for second, well back from Berg's point total as Gabriel Deschamp and Rich Pavlicek both scored 67 points. Deschamp did it with eight wins in sixteen top fives as he climbed from a 40th place ranking in 2022 while Pavlicek rose up from 11th last year by winning nine times in seventeen top fives in 2023.
