In 2021 Cyle Hawkins faced "must win" situations and needed to borrow an IMCA legal car to even compete to score points during the final events of the season in order to earn his first All Iowa Points Four Cylinder championship. In 2022 he could breathe just a bit easier holding a good lead over the rest of the competitors throughout the second half of the season and while he might have had to go looking for an IMCA legal ride in order to race at the Turkey Dash in Columbus Junction in order to hold off a possible last race challenge from Kolby Sabin, that race was weathered out and Hawkins picked up his second straight AIP title by just four points.

As I provide the stats for the top three, keep in mind that this is the only All Iowa Points division where the points scale is determined by the car count at each event. With ten or more cars in attendance the full 5-point scale is awarded. With six to nine cars on hand a 3-point scale is used and with three, four or five cars signed in, the winner only is given one point.
Hawkins picked up ten "full field" feature wins on the season and scored points in thirty-five events. Sabin's late run ended with a feature win at the Fall Challenge in Oskaloosa, his thirteenth full field win on the season where he scored points in thirty-one events. USRA Tuner National Champion Oliver Monson takes third scoring five points on ten of the thirty-six events where he earned markers. Tyler Fiebelkorn, who held the points lead for a week or two in June finished fourth in the final standings while the only female to ever win an All Iowa Points title in the fifty-six years that they have been compiled, Kimberly Abbott finished fifth just one spot ahead of perhaps the second to accomplish that feat in the years ahead, Kaytee DeVries.
The Newcomer of the Year for the Four Cylinders is Levi Volkert from Correctionville who had three full field feature wins and finished in a tie for tenth in the final standings.
This closes out our division-by-division summary of the All Iowa Points for 2022 and make sure to keep checking in on the Back Stretch over the coming weeks. We will have the final state point standings for Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas, then we will toss them all together with the states that we have previously announced to decide our "Best of the Midwest" drivers in December. Then, over the Holidays, we will be back with our popular Cumulative All Iowa Points standings for each division from the year 2000, or the year that we started tabulating the division, all the way through the 2022 season. Some of these lists will have well over two thousand names on them and it is always fun for the drivers and their fans to see how they stack up over the past twenty plus years.
