As it turned out the run for the 2022 All Iowa Points Stock Car championship came down to the final race of the year. With the Turkey Dash at the CJ Speedway canceled this past Saturday, the October 29th running of Shiverfest at the Lee County Speedway was the final event of the season and at the halfway point of the Stock Car feature Kaden Reynolds appeared to have the race well in hand with the five points for the win ready to bump him to the top of the Points. That is when disaster struck as a slower car stuffed it into the turn three guardrail just ahead of the leader and the resulting contact sent Reynolds to the pits leaving him two points behind Dallon Murty in the final standings.
That is not to say that Murty didn't earn his third straight All Iowa Points championship as the young driver sat in the eighth spot on September 1st and then seven of his seventeen Stock Car feature wins, including the IMCA Super Nationals "Big Dance", vaulted him to the top of the list. Murty earned points in thirty-six events. For Reynolds, it was still an impressive campaign as the 2021 All Iowa Points Hobby Stock Champion took to the Stock Cars quickly winning seventeen times in thirty-seven top fives. The young driver from Cedar Rapids is easily the Newcomer of the Year in this class.

Kelly Shryock was the points leader heading into September, but essentially left his Stock Car at the shop over the final two months of the season as he slipped to third in the final standings. The three-time Modified champion also finished third in this year's Modified standings and coincidentally Shryock scored the same number of points (127) in each division. Derek Green finished in the fourth spot while four-time Stock Car Champion Damon Murty book ended the top five with his son.
