After following a busy schedule to chase the IMCA Modified National Championship in 2021, an effort that also resulted in an All Iowa Points title, Jeff "Bone" Larson took a step back in 2022. He did not race his Modified as often, plus he was making some starts in the Curless Racing #99 Late Model. Even with the curbed schedule, Larson still had plenty of success ranking 26th in the final Modified standings for 2022.

Along came 2023 and with it the opportunity to drive a Modified owned by Timmy Current, he himself a former All Iowa Points Champion after winning the Stock Car championship in 2011. While he will still climb behind the wheel himself from time to time, Current along with his partner Ryan Duhme are busy with their Darkside Promotions efforts bringing special events to the tracks in Tipton and Maquoketa this past season. So with Larson starting the season behind the wheel of Timmy's #12T Modified, they found instant success with a feature win on April 7th during the Darkside's Spring Fling.

After a couple of top four finishes at Davenport, the duo won again at Maquoketa on April 29th and the pairing was now set for the season. Defending All Iowa Points champion Austen Becerra would lead the standings through most of the summer before Larson took the point in August and "Bone" would never look back posting his second All Iowa Points Modified championship over the past three years.
Larson would post nineteen feature wins in forty top five finishes while Becerra, in just his second full season in the Modified class, settles for the runner-up position after winning twenty times in thirty-six top five outings. The 2009 champion Jeremy Mills had a fine season winning thirteen times in thirty-five top fives to finish third, while the 2008 champion Todd Shute ranked fourth. This year's IMCA Super Nationals champion Tim Ward completes the top five.
The Newcomer of the Year for the Modifieds is northwest Iowa driver Dyllan Ricks. The Sport Mod graduate got a feel for the Modifed by racing in Arizona for ten nights and then won his first feature at the Interstate Speedway on April 23rd. Dyllan then followed that up six days later with a victory at Park Jefferson and he would finish 18th in the final standings below.
