Three More Cup Races For Moffitt; All Stars To Stay Out East

As anticipated his solid 8th-place showing at Atlanta on Sunday in the Michael Waltrip Racing #55 car has earned young Iowa driver Brett Moffitt another Cup opportunity with a three-race commitment from the Front Row Motorsports #34 team. With its regular driver David Ragan subbing for the injured Kyle Busch, Front Row needed a sub of their own and Moffitt gets the call. This is a team with a tighter budget than the MWR #55, so don't expect the kid to be challenging for a win in these three events, but hopefully he continues to impress with some solid finishes.

After its purchase by Tony Stewart, the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car series released its revamped 2015 schedule that will include 54 events, but gone are three of the four shows that were originally scheduled for our region. The July 25th date in Wilmot, Wisconsin, remains where the All Stars will do battle with the IRA Sprints, but the May 15th and July 26th events where they were to run along with the National Sprint League as well as the stand-alone show on July 29th at the West Liberty Raceway are no longer on the schedule.

The show at West Liberty was going to be presented by someone other than the Simmons Promotions crew that operate the track weekly. Perhaps now that gentleman might want to give the NSL a call to fill that date?

As a follow up to my comments from yesterday on the Iowa State Fair, there is very good discussion going on right now on the iowastockcars.com forum including several people that I have a great respect for. If you have an interest in the topic check it out here.

Today's forecast for each of the following:

Friday March 13th Beatrice, Nebraska - Sunshine and 58

Saturday March 28th Donnellson, Iowa - Cloudy with a little rain and 49

Saturday April 11th Burlington, Iowa - Colder with plenty of clouds and 55
