Final South Dakota Points for 2017

A special event at the Wagner Speedway on Saturday night and a final Sunday night of action at Raceway Park in Jefferson has wrapped up the 2017 racing season in the state of South Dakota and following are the final state point standings as tabulated using the standard five-point scale for all events.

In the Late Models Chad Becker of Aberdeen had an incredible season, one that should also put him near the top of the "Best of the Midwest" standings to be released later, as he won twenty-three feature races in his home state as part of forty-four top five finishes. Tyler McDonald of Huron claimed the Modified title of South Dakota's best by winning nine features among his thirty-seven top-fives. Kent Arment, who was at the top of the list in both the Late Models and the Modifieds in 2016, finished second in the Modifieds and third in the Late Models this season.

Veteran driver Lorin Johnson from Miller repeated his Limited Modified championship winning nineteen feature races while placing in the top five thirty-two times. And, with the closing of the Badlands Speedway there was no weekly Sprint Car racing in the state, but in those events that were held it was Nebraska's Cody Ledger who scored the most points with two wins and four runner-up finishes.
