Final Arkansas Points for 2018

This racing season is now complete in the state of Arkansas and despite the fact that several tracks in the state come up short as far as reporting their results, we have dug up what we can in order to present this year's state point standings using the same 5-point scale from the All Iowa Points. A few tracks didn't report any results at all, one just did winner's only which of course always makes you question what their car counts are while a couple others randomly reported the top three from each race night. Let's just say that these tracks need to step up their game a bit, after all how hard ist it to put your results on your Facebook page? You use it all week to promote the upcoming race, but can't take five minutes to then post the results?? I just don't understand race promoters sometimes.

After taking the runner-up honors in 2017 Steve Crocker of Jonesboro moves to the top of the Late Model standings after posting eleven wins in seventeen top five finishes. Brandon Oppenheimer comes in second with four Late Model feature wins and the Riverside International Speedway regular also ranks fourth in the final Modified standings.

Drew Armstrong had a stellar season racing weekly at Texarkana 67 Speedway and at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, plus any other IMCA sanctioned races that he could get to winning sixteen times in thirty-three top five runs. He is point total of 129 nearly doubles that of runner-up Paul Reeder who  made the trip down from Malden, Missouri, to win eight times in Arkansas this season.

With six wins on his stat line Shannon Weese is the Limited Modified champion and in the Winged Sprint Cars Dale Howard leads the way with eight feature wins in fifteen top five showings. Brad Bowden is the runner-up for the second year in a row while Derek Hager ranks third.

Last week I mentioned that Kentucky was still to come as well, but due to the shrinking number of tracks in the state and again inconsistent reporting of results I will not be sharing those standings here, nor will I track them again in 2019. I will however, include what I do have in the Best of the Midwest standings that will be released in early December which will benefit a few of the Kentucky Modified drivers that venture out to other nearby states to compete.

I do plan to continue to track Arkansas next year, despite the inconsistent results, as both Crowley's Ridge and "The Ditch" in West Memphis are on my "to do list" as tracks that I have never been to.
