In the past I have combined all five divisions into one "Best of the Midwest" blog posts, but with the final event of the season, the Gateway Dirt Nationals more than a week out, and the fact that each of these five drivers have earned their own headline, I am going to do them one by one this year. With the Late Models and the Modifieds running in the dome, that means that our other three divisions are complete and we will start with the Stock Cars.
This is just the fourth year that I have tracked the Stock Cars across the states listed below and for the second time Harlan, Iowa's, Mike Nichols has earned the title of "Best of the Midwest" for his accumulated point total across all states. Of the seventy-one drivers that scored sixty or more points in order to make this list, the now twelve-time IMCA National champion Nichols was the only one to score points in five different states: Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and South Dakota.

Since Mike spreads his points around several states he is just a one-time All Iowa Points champion in 2019 although he ranks third in the Cumulative All Iowa Points for the division from 2000 through 2023. (That full list will be released around the holidays). This year Mike ranked eighth in the final All Iowa Points, and eighth in the Nebraska Points as well on his way to his division best point total across all states. His first "Best of the Midwest" honor came in 2020.
The All Iowa Points champion for 2023, Derek Green finishes in the second spot while this year's Minnesota Points champion Dan Mackenthun ranks third. The 2018 All Iowa Points champion Jon Oliver Jr. is fourth while another Iowan, Mitch Hovden completes the top five. Last year's top Stock Car driver, Blake Clark from Texas is seventh on this list.
