Final North Dakota Points for 2021

The first weekend in October played host to the final racing events in North Dakota for 2021 and it will be the first of several state point races that we highlight this year using the standard 5-point scale of the All Iowa Points system. Once all of the states are completed, perhaps as late as the weekend of December 4th in Missouri, we will then pull all of them together for our annual Best of the Midwest standings. So keep an eye on the Back Stretch over the next couple of months and see which drivers were at the top of the list in each state.

There is a new king of the Late Models in North Dakota as after winning the title for the five previous season that we have tracked the points Dustin Strand drops to second place behind new champion Shane Edginton. Travel restrictions due to Covid kept Edginton from scoring a single point in 2020, but the driver from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was again able to race stateside this year and he found victory lane four times in his fourteen top five finishes. Strand was also a four time winner in his twelve top fives and Brad Seng now makes it five straight years on the podium with one feature win in twelve top five finishes.

Travis Hagen

Williston's Travis Hagen repeats his state championship in the Modified division on the strength of a division leading twenty-six top five finishes that included twelve feature wins. After placing fourth in 2019 and third last season, Marlyn Seidler continues to climb to the top by taking the runner up position in 2021 posting seven wins in twenty top five finishes. Jeremy Keller was 28th on the list last year, but jumps to third in 2021 after winning eight times in his seventeen top fives. Taking fourth is the young driver from Pahrump, Nevada, Kollin Hibdon who after racing out of Iowa in 2020 made the move to North Dakota this season where he was an eight time feature winner.

Lucas Rodin

Lucas Rodin of Marion is a first time state champion in the Limited Modified division taking seventeen feature wins in twenty-nine top five finishes. Rodin finished in a tie for ninth on this list last season. Brady Njella climbs for fourth last year to second in 2021 as the drive from Williston picked up seven trophies in twenty-one top fives. And joining them on the podium in third is Darren Medler who earned eight winner's checks this year in his twenty top five finishes. 

Dalton Flory

Dalton Flory ran off and hid with his second straight Stock Car state title as his twenty-four feature wins in thirty-one top five finishes accumulated 84 more points than rather runner-up Joren Boyce who had one win in eighteen top fives. Boyce finished fourth last season while Jake Nelson climbed from twelfth in 2020 to third this year winning four feature events in his fourteen top fives.

For the third time over the past five years Austin Pierce is the reigning Winged Sprint Car champion in North Dakota. Pierce was a nine time feature winner on North Dakota tracks in thirteen top fives to earn his second straight title. After placing fourth in 2020 Brendan Mullen moves to the runner-up position this year winning five times in sixteen top fives and last year's runner-up Jade Hastings slides to third placing in the top five fifteen times with three feature wins.
