The 2022 racing season in the state of North Dakota wrapped up this past weekend and it will be the second of our fourteen states that stretch from Texas to the Canadian border that we tabulate points in using the standard 5-point scale to not only crown state champions, but also the Best of the Midwest in the five common divisions that we follow.
While we have tracked the All Iowa Points since 1967, we have only been doing most of these other states since 2016 and something tells me that Brad Seng would have had a bunch of these Late Model state championships if we would have started earlier with North Dakota. As it is the 2022 title is Seng's first adding his name to the list that includes Dustin Strand who was the champion for five years straight as well as the 2021 winner Shane Edginton. Seng's sixteen top five finishes were the best in the division and all three of the four drivers on an oversized podium were two time feature winners on the season. Runner-up Brody Troftgruben scored thirteen top five finishes and Joey Pederson had eleven top fives. Lance Schill, who tied Pederson for third had four feature wins on the year in his ten top fives.

For the third year in a row Williston's Travis Hagen is the most accomplished Modified driver in North Dakota as he captured nine feature wins amongst his twenty top five finishes in 2022. After finishing third on the list in 2021, Jeremy Keller advances one spot this season with seven victories in eighteen top fives while the young Nevada driver Kollin Hibdon had another successful summer in the state winning six times in fifteen top five finishes to sit third on this list after ranking fourth last year.

The point that I made above about Brad Seng would be even more applicable for the 2022 North Dakota Points Sprint Car champion Mark Dobmeier. "Dynamite" would likely have a state championship count in double digits had I started tracking the state earlier, but 2022 will officially be his first as he won four times in twelve top five finishes after returning from serious injuries. After ranking third last year, Jade Hastings moves to the runner-up spot with two wins in twelve top fives and three-time championship Austin Pierce takes third winning four times in nine top fives.

This is just the third year that the Stock Cars have been tracked and Dalton Flory made a late charge in September to capture his third straight title. Flory trailed Will Scheresky and Adam Goff but strung together three wins and a runner-up finish in the final month to take the title His final count would be seven wins in thirteen top fives. Scheresky, who finished sixth in 2021, settles for second after winning four times in fifteen top five finishes while Goff takes third with two wins in eighteen top fives. He ranked fifth in last year's Stock Car rundown.

After wrapping up the Michigan Points last week I indicated that we would have both Dakotas for you early this week, but I now see that Park Jefferson has added in the Iron Cup for October 14th and 15th, so South Dakota's final rundown will have to wait a couple of weeks.
